Lisa and I took one final trip home. We wanted to put a few more things in storage so why not do a quick visit with family for the Christmas holidays. Lisa, Sophia, and I jumped in the truck and drove from FL to KY. We only had time to stay for a few nights. We had to be back in Florida with enough time to sell the Hunter, close out our boat slips, one last provisioning run, sell the truck, get the boat ready to cross oceans, and pick up our first crew.
The whirlwind trip started with breakfast at Frisch’s. After a hearty Cincinnati style breakfast we took the last bit of our keepsakes to storage. Once our things were safely packed away we made a stop at Kroger to stock up on delicious goetta, Grippos BBQ chips, and LaRosa’s spaghetti and pizza sauces. With a taste of home stuffed in our bags we were ready to visit family. Lisa took Abigail to see Nathan, Alyssa, Sandy, Tae Ahja, Deontae, Antoinette, and Brooklyn for a pizza party. The highlight of the day was an exciting game of Battle of the Sexes. After a fun filled afternoon of pizza and games it was time to head home for a nap before midnight mass. Nathan came with us to midnight mass at St. Benedict’s Church. The sermon was highlighted with the lighting, poinsettias and filled the church with Christmas spirit. We spent Christmas day with family and resting for our big drive back to Florida. We were in bed early for a 0300 departure.
In the next blog we pickup our crew and start our Journey.
