We finally have one of the big refit projects completed. We have been working off small items aboard Unwritten Timeline because we needed either a lot of time or expertise that I don’t possess. We actually ordered all the components for our new solar array several months ago. We were waiting to take the boat over to Sailcraft to have the stainless steel work completed. We took Starjewel over there a couple years ago to have some custom davits installed and their steel guy, Dan, does amazing work. He is an artist in his own right so we had to take Unwritten Timeline there. Dan created the solar panel cradle and an outboard crane for the dingy. Both turned out fantastic. Once the panels were hung I began running wiring, installing the charge controller and hooking up the system to the batteries. My part took a few hours to have everything installed, zip tied, and labeled nicely. There was a slight hiccup with the MC4 connectors. I went ahead and purchased the connector pliers and kit. When I was assembling them I didn’t quite have the electrical lead seated all the way into the MC4 connector resulting in several hours of troubleshooting before I realized it was simply operator head space and timing.Copyright © 2013-2020 · All Rights Reserved · UnwrittenTimeline |
