Oh, The Places You'll Go! was what I was thinking as we were outlining our circumnavigation. I have been keeping a running log of places we'd like to visit during our retirement. I use Google Earth and drop a marker every time I see something of interest. Insider Travel seems to have pretty good "must see" lists and I pull up Google Earth and pin them with a link back to the article so I can pull up what to see at each destination. Another good source of places to see is cruising vlogs on YouTube. If you look at our map you might notice a little heart in the Indian Ocean. This is Cocos Keeling. This quickly became Lisa's number one destination on the planet after watching the series of Delos videos on Cocos Keeling. Or as Frida says Cocos...Keeelllingg.
While it's nice to have all our destinations on the computer complete with links we wanted to have it mounted on the wall to remind us of why we're working so hard to save money right now. We started packing up our hung picture frames. The photos were all put away and the frames were stored for our future garage sale when we get rid of all our worldly possessions, except one nice boat. We purchased a 48x78" laminated map of the world so we can mark on it with dry erase markers. Detailed planning has not been completed yet as some dates are 10 years away, but we now have a general route and places of interest. Of course weather will have a strong vote on what timelines we keep. And, the Schengen Agreement makes long term visiting Europe kind of a pain, but I'm sure we'll survive.
If you're wanting to meet us and go sailing while we're out and about call dibs soon. I'm sure the Bahamas will fill up quickly and I know I have one seat taken for the Antarctica and NW Passage trips.
