Lisa, Sophia and I went to Oriental this weekend. We were kicking ourselves a little bit on the drive down. When I had checked the weather Thursday it called for gloomy cool conditions and we weren't really rushing to get down there. We rolled out of bed Saturday, took our time getting loaded up and drove down with no real timeline. Of course it was beautiful. It was sunny 82 degrees and 10 plus knots of wind all day. We were wishing we had gotten up earlier so we could enjoy more of the day. Sophia had a great time lounging on the boat and watching the birds and the occasional fish. All of us were soaking up the sun as the wind quietly pushed us up and down the Neuse river.
The past several times we've gone to the boat we have been working on projects. We haven't really posted as writing, "well today I got another thing half finished" doesn't seem all that interesting or motivating. However we do have a few things completed now. I purchased an oil change system and changed the oil on the engine. I must say this thing is pretty sweet. If you're going to own a boat for a couple oil changes this will pay for itself in no time. Lisa had finished up the silverware trays, and now instead of reaching through a mess of sharp knives and forks and leaving the drawers bloody we can see and grab anything we want. The trays turned out really nice and I'm sure the next owner will really appreciate them. I guess we'll just have to do it all over again when we get our retirement boat. We also applied some window film to most of the cabin windows to keep prying eyes out of our boat, but still allow all the light in. We can keep the curtains pulled up, still see out and when the sun is up it paints the cabin in hundreds of tiny rainbows.
It seems we are getting more of the kinks out every trip. We had another great day where nothing went wrong. I have to make sure and write these days down so I don't forget when it all goes to hell and I just want to sink the boat.
