I have been traveling for work and haven’t been able to get to the boat that often and haven’t had time to post. We did make it down for a couple weekends since our last post but haven’t actually taken the boat out in a while. We spent one weekend getting some projects completed and working on getting our list down significantly. This last weekend we patched the hole where the radio was previously mounted, finished cleaning the steps, and we gave the deck and topsides of the boat a good scrubbing. It’s nice and bright white again. There was a lot of dark spots and heaps of Sophia hair.
We finally were able to cook a real meal on the boat. Microwave food is great every so often, but Lisa and I usually enjoy a meal made with fire. You may remember my frustration getting the propane system to work. We finally have that all sorted out and we made a delicious meal of rice and fiesta chicken. Well, made is a strong word since it was frozen in a bag. But, we did put it in a skillet and heat it up so we're working towards a full Thanksgiving meal on the boat. Baby steps...
In between all the cleaning Lisa and I found time to take the kayaks out around the harbor. We inflated the kayaks and took a spin around our marina to check out all the boats Friday night when we got in. Saturday morning we launched off the back of Starjewel, paddled over to the Oriental dingy dock and walked to Water Street Grill and had some brunch. Lisa had the 3 egg omelet which must have used ostrich eggs, because it took up half the plate. After filling up we got back into the kayaks and paddled up Greens Creek to Kershaw Creek. Lisa stopped under the bridge to feed some birds part of her breakfast on the way. When we were finished kayaking we returned to Pecan Grove Marina to do a little more work on the boat and get in some relax time before dinner. After awhile we started getting hungry. Since we've already made a meal on the stove, that box was checked so we drove to Toucan Grill for dinner. After dinner and a walk along the pier we made our way to The Bean to grab some ice cream for dessert. Then it was back to the boat for a glass of wine at sunset. It was a great weekend and I can’t wait for this to be the norm every day.
