After we moved the boat to Oriental I began running through some of the projects I wanted to get done. Some of them I'm trying to work off right away and some of them I'm waiting until this winters haul out. My first issue to try and resolve, the alternator wasn't charging the batteries. I used a multi-meter to check if there was any charge at the battery and no luck. What's the easiest thing I can do? Pull the alternator. I dropped it off at Reuben James Auto to have it tested and repaired if necessary. Unfortunately the alternator was fine. The good news, I don't have pay to have it replaced. The bad news, now I have to chase wires down to figure out why it's not charging. This process is annoying enough on a car when the alternator, starter and battery are all within three feet of each other. Now the starter and alternator are close, but the ignition is 4 feet away and the batteries are 6 feet away in the other direction. And, I get the added bonus of finding the wire as it runs behind paneling, under the floor and through the ceiling. Winning!!
The first weekend I also replaced the LPG solenoid and it worked fine. The second weekend I couldn't get the stove to light, so I also have to re-troubleshoot that. It seems like two weeks have gone by and I'm nowhere closer to getting done with anything.
What follows is the list, as of today, of things I have accomplished followed by the long list of things still needing to be done.
