Lisa and I went home to Kentucky for a week to see family and friends and celebrate the 4th of July for a week, because ‘Merica. We were able to spend time with our families and see several friends we haven’t seen in awhile.
The day after we arrived Lisa and I took out our Harley’s and went for a ride with Charles who is in the Claryville Riders United MC. We had about 15 bikes ride from Claryville to the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club for lunch and on to Lawrenceburg, IN. Then we headed back to Pompilio’s for dinner. Lisa, of course, had to try to break the sound barrier on the way back to dinner. Riding around on a beautiful summer day with 15 other bikes is always a great way to start any trip.
A college buddy of mine, Bob made the trip up from Lexington to hang out with his wife, Kim and their newborn son Brock. We haven’t been able to see them since their wedding and it was good to catch up and meet their son. We had a great dinner at the revolving restaurant 360. Thanks again for driving all the way up Bob.
Of course we couldn’t leave home without going out for drinks and dancing with Charles and Tamara. They drug us out to live it up at Boogie Nights in Indiana. I couldn’t help but think of Saturday Night Fever as we took the escalator down to the dance floor. Tamara and Charles were plying us with drinks all night and trying to wear Lisa out on the dance floor with little success.
After partying all night Lisa and I got up bright and early at 10 o’clock in the morning to set up at AJ Jolly park for the 4th of July party. We brought our grill and boxes of food, drinks, and decorations. Dinner started at 5 and food served at 6pm with lots of cornhole, rockets being fired, and kids playing at the park. We had lots of family and friends. My uncles and aunts, mom, and grandma, Lisa’s sister, son, and niece along with our friends Charles, Tamara, Jake and Brittany and their families all showed to make the event great. I started the fireworks after sunset and had a couple glitches. The fuse I used was from a year ago and that stuff apparently doesn’t age very well. Several didn’t ignite in order which caused a delay and miss-timing of half the show. The crowd didn’t seem to mind too much as the mid finale was pretty good.
It was a great trip home and I’m glad to be at work so I can relax a little from the 8hr drives and having too much fun with friends and family. I’m ready to get back on the water and relax a little. We’ll see how that works out for me.
